We are a wonderful village school and nursery who are proud of what we have to offer. Many of our existing children come from Ledbury Town (travelling on our minibuses) and one of the reasons we are participating in the Community Day is to represent them and raise awareness of our wonderful school.

Community Action Ledbury

Community Action LedburyCommunity Action Ledbury is a charity offering transport services within Ledbury and twenty three surrounding parishes. CAL offers the Ring and Ride voluntary car scheme. Volunteers use their own cars to provide transport to individuals who are socially isolated or unable to use conventional transport due to disability. CAL also offers a minibus service to community and voluntary groups. Local groups can use the fully adapted and wheelchair accessible vehicles for day trips or regular meetings.

Ledbury Cricket Club has been part of the fabric of Ledbury for many years. Now is a very exciting time for Ledbury Cricket Club as we move to our brand-new purpose-built pavilion and ground at the junction of Orlham Lane and Ross Road

We will be showing pictures of our fantastic new facilities and describing the cricketing opportunities we offer for all ages and abilities. Cycling - Ledbury Area Cycle Forum

Cycling - Ledbury Area Cycle ForumLACF works to encourage cycling for all by petitioning for improvements to street infrastructure particularly near the schools and leisure facilities, by checking that new homes and businesses have cycle storage provision and by organising community cycling events. It works closely with Herefordshire Council's Sustainable Transport unit. It runs a leisure-cycling website www.ComeCyclingLedbury.com - a one-stop-shop resource for cyclists (and non-cyclists).

We are a local group of volunteers with the aim to advise and help people in Ledbury and district to save energy and save money. We are available to make Presentations to other local groups about Energy Awareness.

Evergreen Club

The Evergreen Club is one of the oldest social clubs in Ledbury and meets weekly. The club is for the elderly of the town. Our weekly meetings give members an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and to socialise over tea and cakes. For those unable to make their own way to meetings we use the community mini bus to pick up and return members after the meeting.

Food Bank - Ledbury

The Food Bank exists to give short term support to needy people and families in Ledbury and the surrounding area. Our usual opening is on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.30am to 12.30pm. We welcome donations of food and other household items or financial gifts, which can be one-off donations or regular direct debits

The Herefordshire and Gloucester Canal Trust aims to rebuild and restore the 34 miles of rural Canal between Gloucester and Hereford, the course of which passes through Ledbury. Our message: Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal Trust is rebuilding a sustainable Canal between Hereford and Gloucester.

Marie Curie Fundraising Group - Ledbury

Our committee meets monthly to organise and support events and collections around Ledbury. The money that we raise provides high quality care by Marie Curie nurses in Herefordshire, free of charge to people with all terminal illnesses in their own home. Singing for the Brain Group, Ledbury - the Alzheimer's Society

Singing for the brain uses the therapeutic benefits of music and singing to help improve well-being and confidence for people with dementia and their carers. Music can encourage the expression of positive emotions as well as enhance communication skills.

Solar - Ledbury Community Solar Cooperative

The cooperative initiated the development of a solar energy farm on the roof of Ledbury Community Health Centre as a community investment project to provide sustainable energy in Ledbury.

We are celebrating the performance of the PV array fitted to the Community Health Centre. Now running for 2 years, the savings in CO2 and money for the Health Centre prove the value of Renewable Energy. We will also be promoting the Car Share Scheme currently available in Ledbury.

Tree Warden, Ledbury Parish

We have a rich and beautiful treescape in this parish including ancient trees, old hedgerows and ancient semi-natural woodland, parts of which have existed since the Domesday recording of 1086. As Tree Warden, my brief is to encourage Ledbury residents to get to know, understand and value our trees.

Let me tell you how you can get involved in the surveying and recording of special trees in the parish to create our Parish Tree Map. Tell me about your favourite trees. I will also be looking for volunteers to assist with tree related projects including a tree nursery, working with landowners to restore hedgerow trees and offering their own skills and ideas to create tree related arts projects.

Allotments Association - LedburyLedbury Allotments Association (LAA) is a charity with two main aims: the provision of allotment facilities for local residents wanting to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and to support and facilitate education and training in horticultural and related activities. The LAA owns and manages two fields of allotments in Burtons Lane, outside Ledbury travelling towards Bosbury.

Ledbury Archery Club is the youngest of four clubs in Herefordshire. We are a friendly and inclusive club based in Ledbury. Catholic Church - Ledbury

Ledbury Catholics' first church opened in 1926; the present church dates from 1976 and features work by local craftsmen and artists. All are welcome to our services or just to come in to look round or have a quiet time of reflection.

Naturalists Field Club - Ledbury

The club was founded in 1967 to give local people, who have a general interest in natural history, the opportunity of furthering and sharing their knowledge. Our activities run throughout the year with indoor talks in winter and an outdoor field programme in spring/summer. We also conduct an annual faunal survey at a location near Ledbury and have a coppicing project in Queen's Wood during the winter.

We will be pleased to explain what we offer members. These include winter talks, summer excursions, and opportunities for fieldwork in both summer and winter. Expertise is not required, but is welcomed if you have it. We are equally interested in encouraging people, young and old, to engage with the local environment and to discover what is there.

The Probus Club of Ledbury is a social club for retired professional and business men, run by a small committee. We meet every Monday morning except Bank Holidays in the Burgage Hall for talks given by visiting speakers or the members. The U3A (University of the Third Age) is a world-wide organisation providing educational and recreational opportunities for the retired and semi-retired. Butcher Row House Museum (Ledbury and District Civic Society)

Butcher Row House Museum (Ledbury and District Civic Society)Butcher Row House Museum features many items of local interest including reproduction helmets and breastplates that would have been worn in the Battle of Ledbury in 1645 and a small collection of musical instruments ranging from a 'hurdy-gurdy' to a Tibetan pipe fashioned from a thigh bone. It has been awarded accredited status by the Museums Libraries and Archives Council - the first independent Museum in the West Midlands to receive this award.

Heritage Centre, Ledbury

The story of Ledbury's past is displayed in this timber-framed building dating from 15th Century, which is believed to have been built by East Anglian woollen merchants, before it became the town's Grammar School. Local volunteers man the Heritage Centre, which is now under the wing of new owners Ledbury Places after transfer of the building from Herefordshire Council in early 2017.

Discover Ledbury's history at the Heritage Centre. We have displays of our local history, including the building of the canal and the railway, the geology of the area, the development of the town and our famous poets John Masefield and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Don't forget to look up and down our massive chimney and try your hand at Victorian sums. If you have any memories of times when the Heritage Centre was lived in, add them to our memories board. Donations welcome.

All levels and experience are welcome to this friendly group who are keen to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. We have outside speakers who are experts in their fields covering a wide range of related subjects. Alternatively local members give demonstrations or run mini workshops in a wide variety of techniques. Full day workshops are held 2 or 3 times a year.

Painted Room (Ledbury Town Council)Wall paintings were discovered in the Town Council offices during major restoration work in 1989 and have been dated to the mid 1560s. They represent the expensive tapestries and leather hangings that would normally be found in the homes of wealthy aristocrats, and are thought to be the work of a jobbing artist who has created a cheaper version for the up and coming Merchant Gentry.

The 16th Century Painted Room will be open as usual on Community Day. Our knowledgeable guides will give you a short introductory talk (5 minutes) and show you the special paintings. We have children's costumes for dressing up and a small set of stocks to entertain the children!

Bell ringing is part of our national heritage, it is an absorbing, sociable, challenging and fun activity for all ages. Once you have grasped the basics of ringing you will be welcomed to ring at most towers across the country. We keep that tradition going in Ledbury.

We will provide church bell ringing demonstrations, visits to the ringing chamber and an opportunity to have a go at "chiming" one of the bells. Library Development Group, Ledbury

Our group supports our local library. We progress community, cultural and personal development activities and build links with local schools and adult educational initiatives in order to get best use from this important local service. Our group stresses the continuing importance of our library service to the community. We support JAHL (Joint Action for Herefordshire Libraries) and work with the Library Service to defend our libraries.

We will have a selection of second hand books for sale to raise money to buy items for the library and for a campaigning fund. We are currently trying to raise money to fund additional hours opening for a year. This will bring us in line with Ross and Leominster to make sure Herefordshire Council decisions are made on comparative information. (Less use means larger cuts). Please ask about joining us.

Poetry Festival

Now in its 21st year, Ledbury Poetry Festival is a sparkling 10 day celebration of poetry held annually in July attracting thousands of visitors to the town. It features performances from national and international poets, music, poetry slams, poets in residence, young poets in residence, new writers' programmes, street poetry, children's and family events - something for everyone. We also have year round community and schools programmes bringing poetry into schools and to vulnerable people who wouldn't normally attend poetry performances.

Bell ringing is a fun and inclusive activity open to all ages and people from all walks of life. It helps to develop coordination, observation, memory and teamwork and is a good exercise. It provides the opportunity for social interaction and community involvement and contributes to the health and wellbeing of anyone taking part. Relatively new ringers and highly experienced ringers can take part together and find it equally rewarding. Ringing is a skill for life and can open up a lifetime of experiences and enjoyment.

We will be bringing along a 12ft high portable bell ringing simulator that feels just like ringing a tower bell. A number of experienced ringers will be present, including qualified ringing teachers. We will be providing demonstrations and giving members of the public the opportunity to have a go.

Brass Band - Ledbury Community Brass BandLedbury Community Brass Band is a friendly and fun band led by our Musical Director Colin Herbert, who has a long history of brass bands. We aim, as a Community band, to be as inclusive as possible and, as a result, we have members of all ages and abilities. Despite our short history, we are pleased to have been part of Community Day over the last four years plus Ledbury's Civic Services, Christmas Concert, Christmas Lights Switch-on and Remembrance Sunday. The band also had a very successful Christmas Concert in December 2016 - a first and a sell-out!

The band will be playing a variety of music and offer an opportunity for members of the public to try out instruments and speak to band members. Youth Council - Family Picnic on the "Rec"

Youth Council - Family Picnic on the "Rec"Ledbury Youth Council has been formed with help from John Masefield High School and Ledbury Town Council to give the young people of our town a say in how things happen and, indeed, what happens. This Community Day and the Great Ledbury Celebration are the first two town events in which that the Youth Council are playing an active role.

We thought it would be a great idea to organise a Family Picnic to take place on the afternoon of Ledbury Community Day - so we are! Bring a picnic and join everyone at this special event for families and young people. All kinds of attractions for children:

Swifts Football Club - Ledbury

Ledbury Swifts is for boys and girls aged from 6 to 17 and was formed in 1987. Now with 12 groups we have over 25 people committed to ensuring the children of Ledbury have the opportunity to learn and play football. Most of our managers have obtained a Football Association coaching qualification, attending training courses which give confidence and help the managers understand the special aspects of training young children.

We are hosting our annual football tournament on the weekend of the 10th and 11th June. The event attracts football teams from all over Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, and caters for Under 7 to Under 13 boy age groups and Under 12 and Under 14 girl age groups. Do come along - you are very welcome to attend, spectate. Try to beat the goalie and win at tombola and in our raffle. Refreshments stall and barbecue.

Ledbury Catholics' first church opened in 1926; the present church dates from 1976 and features work by local craftsmen and artists. All are welcome to our services or just to come in to look round or have a quiet time of reflection.

Youth Drop-In - Ledbury Youth Activities

The new Youth Drop-in runs in the Barrett Browning Building (old library). The totally volunteer led group opens for young people on two evenings a week providing a safe and comfortable space for socialising and activities. Monday evenings are aimed at school years 7 and 8 and Wednesday evenings are for those 11 to 16 years old. Since opening last year, over 100 young people have "dropped-in" and we will typically welcome over 30 on a Wednesday.

Fire Service - Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has 27 Fire Stations including five whole time and three day-crewed Stations. The remaining Stations all operate the retained duty system, including the Fire Station at Ledbury. Retained Firefighters respond to emergency calls from their home or place of work - as long as they can get to their Fire Station within 4 or 5 minutes of being alerted to a 999 call.

(At Entrance to Bye Street Car Park) We are a few families who have developed the Bye St Car Park entrance into a special garden friendly for pollinators, wildlife and people alike.

We hope to raise awareness of the importance of wild areas/gardens. We will be focussing on the Hedgehog this year. There will be a stall run by the children with their no longer wanted toys/books. The proceeds will go to Malvern Hedgehog rescue. As we are outside we will be there if the weather permits.
